Quick guides to install, license and set up the visuals. If something isn't working, write to support@invenia.es.

Install a visual

  1. In Power BI Desktop, open the Visualizations pane, click the three dots and choose Get more visuals.
  2. Search for the visual's name (Planogram viewer, ImageGallery or Lightbox Gallery) and click Add.
  3. You can also do it from Microsoft AppSource with the Get it now button on each listing.

Once added, the visual works the same in Power BI Desktop and the Power BI service.

Trial and licences

Pro plans include a 30-day free trial, started from the AppSource listing. To continue afterwards:

  1. Buy per-user licences on Microsoft AppSource.
  2. Assign them to each person in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
  3. Licensed users see the Pro version when they open the report; everyone else sees the free version, with its watermark or limits.

Image requirements

The visuals load each photo from its row's URL, directly in the viewer's browser. That means:

  • URLs must start with https://.
  • Whoever views the report must be able to open that URL in their browser.
  • If an image doesn't appear, open it in a new tab: if it doesn't load there either, the visual can't show it.

Exporting from ImageGallery

Power BI blocks downloads from custom visuals until an administrator enables Allow downloads from custom visuals in the admin portal's tenant settings. It's a two-minute change and can be scoped to a security group.

Power BI Embedded, Publish to web and Report Server

These deployments aren't covered by Microsoft AppSource licensing and need a separate commercial licence. Write to info@invenia.es and we'll prepare a proposal.

Frequently asked questions

What is a custom visual?

A component you add to Power BI just like the native charts. You install it from Power BI itself (“Get more visuals”) or from Microsoft AppSource, and it works in Power BI Desktop and the Power BI service.

Where do the photos need to be?

Anywhere reachable over HTTPS: your cloud storage, a CDN or your field app's system. The visuals load each image from its row's URL, directly in the browser of whoever is viewing the report.

Does Invenia receive my data?

No. The visuals run inside Power BI. The exception is ImageGallery's optional cloud export (Pro + Cloud Export plan), which processes files in the EU and deletes them after download.

How are licences bought and assigned?

They're bought per user on Microsoft AppSource and assigned in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Licensed users see the Pro version; everyone else sees the free one.
